Richard E Grant, who is part of the star-studded lineup for the new series of Celebrity Traitors, has just announced that he has become a grandfather. The beloved actor shared the happy news in an emotional video on his Instagram page, which also included a compilation of old family photographs.
The clip started with Grant talking to the camera while sitting in a car wash, where he explained that he was "waiting" for his daughter to give birth, and described how "extraordinary" it felt to be becoming a grandfather.
The video then cut to a different clip, where he later revealed that he was "grateful for the safe arrival of our grandson". Grant looked emotional, and added that "life truly is miraculous", with a big grin on his face.
The caption of his beautiful Instagram update read: "Trying to distract myself, waiting for the birth of our grandson in a hospital nearby. Then hearing the miraculous news of his safe delivery by the time I got home."
The Saltburn and Game of Thrones actor then went on to say that he was "reflecting on the passage of time", remembering his own daughter's birth to thinking of her now "becoming a mother herself".
"Is there a feeling any more tender than this?," he asked at the end of his caption, followed by a number of red heart emojis.

His fans were quick to jump into his comments to share their congratulations and well-wishes. The Instagram account of fellow actor Sanjeev Bhaskar, who you'll know from Unforgotten and Taskmaster, was also seen under Grant's post, sharing "huge congratulations" and "lots of love" to the star and his family.
Grant shared the news that his daughter Olivia was pregnant with her first child earlier this year, also revealing that she and her husband had moved in with him.
While appearing on the Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth podcast in March (via People), Grant also reflected on the passing of his late wife Joan Washington in 2021.
Saying he was "not lonely", he continued: "I live communally because our daughter and her now husband chose a couple of years ago to come and live in our house... So we all live together, and I'm kind of like a concierge."
Grant was in the news earlier this week for teasing his upcoming appearance in the highly-anticipated second season of The Celebrity Traitors on the BBC.
During a chat on The One Show, Grant confessed that he had asked his fellow actor and friend Celia Imrie – who of course was something of a breakout star in the last season of the BBC reality competition – for advice.
Grant said: "We've known each other for 40 years. I said, 'Celia, what is the thing you can't be prepared for?' She said, 'The cruelty of people who you instinctively want to trust, in a room like this and suddenly every single person suspects you'. And I think that's a very accurate thing to have said. I've already said too much!"
