Following the news that Trevor Nelson will be taking a break from Radio 2 for health reasons, the BBC has confirmed who will be covering in the meantime. Earlier today, it was announced that the presenter would step away for the moment on the advice of his doctor.

It has now been announced that presenter Clara Amfo will fill in for Nelson's Radio 2 afternoon show next week between Monday, 29 June and Friday, 3 July.

After that, DJ Spoony will sit in from Monday, 6 July until further notice, while Melvin Odoom will in turn cover for Spoony on his Monday evening The Good Groove show.

Richie Anderson has been filling in for Nelson this week, and said in a message: "Sending all the love in the world to our Trevor, we’ve got your back buddy."

In his original statement, Nelson told fans: "I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I’m going to be taking a little break from my work commitments."

He confirmed that "after a routine check-up" he was "advised to have some follow-up tests" and "will be taking some further time off" as a result.

"As I'm sure you can appreciate with health issues, it's important to deal with facts and not speculate," he continued. "So I'm concentrating on getting better, being back to 100% me and to getting back behind the mic and the decks."

BBC Director of Music Lorna Clarke shared in a statement: "Everyone at BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra wishes Trevor a very speedy recovery, and we all look forward to him returning to his shows whenever he is ready."

Since the news, many stars have shared their support, including Stormzy, Mel B, Lemar, Beverley Knight, Lauren Laverne, Zoe Ball and Angellica Bell.

The Trevor Nelson Show airs on BBC Radio 2 on weekdays from 2-4pm.
