House of Guinness, Steven Knight's highly-anticipated new period drama coming to Netflix, has just confirmed its release date.

We are excited to share that the show, described as "an epic story" that's been "inspired by one of Europe's most famous and enduring dynasties", is arriving on the streaming platform on 25 September.

The official logline reveals: "Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness."

Along with the release-date announcement, Netflix has also shared a first look at a number of the cast and characters, including Happy Valley's James Norton who is playing the role of Sean Rafferty.

Norton can be seen in period costume wearing a top hat.
