Andrew Garfield has a wild new true story TV series on the way that you will want to watch out for.

Wild Things, which was announced last month, is set to air on Apple TV+ and tells the story of magicians Siegfried & Roy, who were famed for their use of tigers and lions in their act.

The TV adaptation will see Garfield play the role of Roy (aka Uwe Ludwig Horn) opposite Skeleton Crew's Jude Law as Siegfried (aka Siegfried Tyron Fischbacher).

The eight-part limited series is based on the podcast Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy, which was released in 2022.

The original audio series takes a look at the duo, who were "mega-famous", though "much about their private lives, eccentric public personae, and tragic final show remained shrouded in mystery".

The podcast "takes you behind the velvet curtain to reveal shocking moments, surprising details, and hidden truths about two men who were lionized by millions of fans, lampooned by the media, criticized by animal welfare advocates, and endlessly scrutinized by the public".

Siegfried & Roy's careers were over after one fateful Las Vegas show in 2003, in which Horn was severely injured after being bitten by a tiger. He also suffered a stroke, and the show was shut down afterwards.

Horn passed away in 2020 after contracting COVID-19, while Fischbacher passed away the following year due to pancreatic cancer.

The Wild Things TV series is being produced by Imagine Entertainment, which was behind Garfield's true crime series Under the Banner of Heaven and has also worked on shows such as Empire and Genius: Aretha.

Only Murders in the Building co-creator John Hoffman is behind the new series as writer, showrunner and executive producer, while WandaVision's Matt Shakman will direct the pilot episode alongside an executive producer credit. Garfield and Law are also on board as executive producers.

Will Malnati and Steven Leckart, who were behind the original podcast, will also executive produce alongside Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind), Kristen Zolner (Big Mouth), Natalie Berkus (The 'Burbs), Tony Leondis (The Emoji Movie) and Kathy Ciric (The Romanoffs).

What is Wild Things about?

Wild Things "tells the wild ride relationship tale of two of the greatest showmen-magicians in history who, along with their white tigers, are tasked with turning Sin City into a family-friendly destination".

"The duo push the concept of illusion versus reality to the extreme, personally and professionally, until tragedy reframes and opens a mystery surrounding their last fateful Las Vegas show," the synopsis adds.

When will Wild Things be released?

A release date is yet to be confirmed, though the series is set to start filming this autumn – so we could expect a 2026 premiere date at the earliest.

Wild Things will stream on Apple TV+.
