The BBC has released a trailer for The Gold season two, giving fans a first glimpse into how the investigation into season one's heist unravels.

The crime drama's first season aired back in 2023, telling the true story of how six armed men burst into the Brink's-Mat security facility and discovered £26 million worth of gold.

The Gold will return for another six episodes on Sunday 8 June, following coppers Brian Boyce (Hugh Bonneville), Nicki Jennings (Charlotte Spencer) and Tony Brightwell (Emun Elliott) as they continue their investigation after realising they only caught half of the criminals involved.

"Following multiple court cases and convictions of some of those involved in the theft and handling of the Brink’s-Mat gold, the police realised that they had only ever been on the trail of half of the Brink’s-Mat gold," teases the official synopsis.

"Series two is inspired by some of the theories around what happened to the other half. As the police investigation continues, it becomes a tense, high-stakes journey into international money laundering and organised crime.
