Netflix's upcoming true crime series Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story has confirmed its release date in a new trailer.

Set for release on 14 May, the new three-part documentary series will tell the story of the lives and crimes of notorious British serial killers Fred and Rose West.

The series will feature recently discovered police recordings, as well as first-person accounts, to tell the story of the husband and wife murderers.

Featuring previously unseen police videos as well as unheard audio recordings, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story will give viewers exclusive access to how the Gloucestershire police were able to catch the couple.

The documentary series will include interviews with family members of the victims – some who are speaking for the first time – giving insight into what they went through.

One of the UK's most infamous serial killers, Fred West murdered at least 12 women between 1967 and 1987, aided by his wife Rose West.

Directed by Dan Dewsbury, the documentary will show how the police were able to unearth the remains of the victims to bring a case against the notorious couple.

Split into three episodes, the first of the three is titled 'Fred', while the second will focus on 'Rose', and the final episode titled 'The Trial' will show the search for evidence.

In episode 1, Fred is taken into custody where he is questioned about his missing daughter. After denying any knowledge of her being missing, the horrifying truth emerges.

"A man is describing murdering his daughter," a voiceover says in the trailer. "It wasn't with floods of tears. It was simply a black and white set of facts."

In episode 2 viewers will learn of the couple's twisted relationship, while episode 3 will follow the police as they search for victims and evidence.

Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story will be released on Netflix on 14 May.
