Jill Halfpenny has teased a "gruesome" ending to her new Channel 5 thriller The Feud.
The six-part series follows the residents of an idyllic suburban street, with built-up tensions surfacing after Emma and John (played by Halfpenny and Spooks' Rupert Penry-Jones) outline their plans to build an extension to their property.
The synopsis continues: "As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.
"Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear."
Speaking ahead of The Feud's premiere last night, Halfpenny teased plenty of drama to come in the remaining five episodes, as well as a "gruesome" finale.

"I didn’t predict how it would end," she said (via Radio Times). "I never imagined it would turn quite so gruesome, and I never expected it would go as far as it goes when it starts out in such a domestic setting."
Explaining the dynamic between the characters, Halfpenny continued: "No one is being honest about what they're doing or how they're feeling, which makes for exciting television.
"Even my character Emma, who feels she's deeply honest, still lies. It’s a scenario we can all relate to, most people have WhatsApp groups, and most people have experienced neighbours having work done to their house.
"But, where The Feud takes us is the stuff of nightmares."

The Feud also stars Larry Lamb as Emma's "wheeler-dealer" father Terry, Coronation Street's Chris Gascoyne as "intimidating" builder Lee, and Derry Girls' Jamie-Lee O’Donnell as police officer PC Gallagher.
The Vicar of Dibley's James Fleet and Only Fools and Horses actor Tessa Peake-Jones play older couple Derek and Barbara, while Downton Abbey's Amy Nuttall and Fleabag's Ray Fearon round out the cast as neighbours Sonia and Alan.
The Feud airs on Channel 5.
