Michelle Keegan’s “heart-rending” drama Ten Pound Poms is still trending as the final episode of series two airs this weekend.

The show follows a group of 1950s Brits who leave the UK in hope of a new life in Australia, but find their dreams of a fresh start aren’t all that they hoped for.

The BBC drama premiered its second series in March, with all episodes available to watch on demand, although those watching the show as it's broadcast live will see the final episode this Sunday (April 13th).

Six weeks after its release, the boxset continues to appear on iPlayer’s ‘New and Trending’ section, with the series being labelled “heart-rending” and “fascinating” by critics.

The series has been a hit with fans, with many praising Keegan’s role as nurse Kate after the series two premiere several weeks ago.

The first series saw Keegan’s character Kate arrive in Australia in the hopes of finding her lost son, who was sent abroad by a Catholic orphanage as a baby.

After she found her son Michael in the first series, the second explores their new relationship while the rest of the characters battle housing, employment and relationship issues in their new home.

Sharing their thoughts after the series premiere, one fan wrote: “Watched it all tonight. Season 3… when?" while another added: “Love this programme and Michelle plays her part brilliantly”.

While a third series of the show hasn’t been confirmed, Keegan recently said that there would be a “bit of a delay” if the show did come back for round three, as the actor has recently welcomed her first child with husband Mark Wright.

Keegan told Radio Times: "I love this show and I feel very lucky to be a part of it. I feel like if the audience takes with this season and there's hunger there for another season, fingers crossed the BBC will want another one. I'd definitely be up for it."

Referring to her then pregnancy, she added: “There'd be a bit of a delay, yeah”.

Ten Pound Poms airs on BBC One this Sunday. All episodes are available now on BBC iPlayer.
