Swedish Netflix thriller The Åre Murders has landed a positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The crime drama, added to Netflix earlier this month has racked up an impressive 83% with critics on the review aggregator site, while audiences scored the show similarly with 80%.

The Åre Murders is still charting on the streaming service's top ten list, holding at number three despite debuting 12 days ago (February 6).

Dubbed a show with "grisly murders, a suffocating tone and a climate so harsh you can practically feel the painfully numb fingers of the cast," The Åre Murders centres on police officer Hanna Ahlander (Carla Sehn).

The Åre Murders is based on the internationally-bestselling work of Swedish author Viveca Stentwo and covers her books Hidden in Snow and Hidden in the Shadows.

Of the adaptation, one critic praised the authenticity of the Nordic Noir genre stating: "The Åre Murders features all the hallmarks of the Nordic Noir genre. Throw in some fantastic location shots of Sweden's mountainous north, and we're all the way in on this investigation."

While another spoke highly of the cop duo Hanna and Daniel saying: "They are not superheroes. They act on their emotions and intellect, and they are both very, very smart. They make a good team, and the cases are intriguing without venturing into anything preposterous or strained."

The Åre Murders is available on Netflix now.
