Hollyoaks star Ijaz Rana has confirmed that his character Imran Maalik and his fiancé Leah Barnes are set to hit the rocks, despite only just having gotten engaged. Having recently returned to the village from America, tech millionaire Imran and his podcaster other half will move into their swanky new houseboat next week on screen.
It's been a blissful return for the couple so far, with their families overjoyed by their success and Imran popping the question during their first week back home, which Leah giddily accepted.

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Ijaz teased that the honeymoon phase won't last long for the young lovers and confirmed drama ahead.
"There is naturally a lot of drama going on, and a lot of bumps in the road for Imran and Leah," explains Ijaz. "They’re so strong as a couple that it makes sense to test that dynamic. There are a lot of questions to be asked!"

Since their return however, Leah has ruffled a few feathers in her friend group, by attempting to convince Vicky Grant to appear on her podcast after matchmaking her with Prince McQueen.
Leah's pressurising attitude angered Vicky's best friend Frankie Osborne, who was further annoyed by Leah when the influencer attempted to meddle in her budding relationship with Caleb Keane.

Also next week, Leah and Imran will involve their friends Vicky, Frankie, Caleb and Prince in a social experiment during a housewarming dinner party, offering each of their guests £100,000 in exchange for revealing their deepest darkest secret on video.
With secrets threatening to come to light and deeply-hidden truths worrying the group of friends, Ijaz reckons that his alter-ego Imran could "definitely" have a secret of his own.
"I think like all the other characters, there’s a lot to be said," he muses. "With Imran, it’s so intriguing because he’s been off screen for so long, so you don’t really know what he’s been up to. He definitely tells some secrets in the video…"
