Hollyoaks has confirmed two major developments involving Jez Blake, including his blackmailer and a new hostage situation.

The villain has been harbouring several secrets in the village lately, with Monday's (23 June) episode seeing the figure kill a social worker who threatened to expose him for the prior murder of Dennis Savage.

After the crime was committed, it was revealed that somebody had spotted Jez in the act, with Tuesday's (24 June) instalment beginning as Jez admitted to Martha that he was heading out to deal with the blackmailer.

"I'm protecting my family - I need them," he reasoned, though Martha wasn't particularly impressed as she branded her son "narcissistic" and "selfish", adding that he regularly made the wrong choice and was "hard to love".

As he headed to the meeting point, Jez was stunned to find that Marie Fielding was the one who had left him the note. In a twist of fate, Marie had actually gotten the wrong end of the stick, and blackmailed Jez after suspecting that he had cheated on his fiancé John Paul.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief, Jez offered to pay Marie the money anyway, though he soon got a shock from Dodger after the policeman revealed that the body of the social worker had been found.

Jez got another reprieve, however, when it was revealed that Bobby Costello – who was hiding away in The Dog with Mercedes following his escape from custody – was wanted for the murder instead.

Buoyed by his narrow escape and "changed ways", Jez delivered a monologue in which he declared himself "unstoppable". As the camera panned back, it was revealed that he was keeping Robbie Roscoe as hostage, and was now in possession of Clare Devine's money

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
