Emmerdale major spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Isobel Steele has reportedly quit the soap opera after playing Liv Dingle for six years in order to focus on other areas of her career.

The news was initially reported by The Sun, although a spokesperson for Emmerdale declined to comment when Digital Spy reached out.

Steele reportedly wants to focus on her music career, which means that her character could be killed off in dramatic fashion in the coming weeks around the time of the soap's 50th-anniversary episodes.

Steele has kept up her singing career during her time on the show and regularly posts songs and covers on her YouTube channel. She released an EP in 2019.

Steele is friends with fellow Emmerdale actor Danny Miller, who plays her on-screen brother Aaron. Miller quit the show last year but is returning for the soap's 50th-anniversary episodes. Miller could indeed be returning as Aaron in order to give Steele's Liv a big send-off.

October's anniversary episodes will see a terrifying storm tear through Emmerdale. The storm will have a devastating effect on the village, with trees pulled up, houses destroyed, and the Woolpack Inn sign hanging by thread following the storm's destruction.

Liv could potentially die as a result of this storm, although nothing official has been confirmed as of yet.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
