A new cosy crime series focusing on a reluctant detective in a sunny locale has dropped a first look. Benidorm is Murder comes from Ian Jarvis, who has written for Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise, among other shows.
The show focuses on former detective Dennis Crown (played by John Hannah), who has "swapped the chaos of the UK for a quieter life running a bar in Benidorm".
"But when tourists start turning up dead, he's reluctantly drawn back into detective work — egged on by his barmaid Rosa, a crime drama superfan, the synopsis adds.

"With Dennis's real-world experience and Rosa's encyclopaedic TV knowledge, each episode sees the duo tackling a new murder in paradise, whilst trying to remain on the right side of the local Spanish cops."
Viewers can now get a first look at the Channel 5 series with a trailer, which teases the sunny setting, lighthearted vibe, as well as looks at Hannah and guest stars such as Denise Welch.

Benidorm is Murder also stars Carolina Bécquer as Rosa, Ariadna Cabrol as DS Maria Hernandez, Damian Schedler Cruz as PC Jesús Ballesteros, and Brian Bovell as Archie, while further guest stars include EastEnders' Tamzin Outhwaite and impressionist Alistair McGowan.
The show also has Death in Paradise's Simon Delaney on board as lead director, while The Madame Blanc Mysteries' Dermot Boyd will also direct an episode.
"Benidorm is Murder is a gem of a show, filled with joy and humour, but there's a balance of comedy and serious emotional weight to the stories, which is testament to the writing," Hannah said.
"We have a such a brilliant cast on this, everyone is pitch perfect for their roles, and I can't wait for viewers to meet Carolina who was born to play Rosa."
The show was commissioned last year as part of a slate of new Channel 5 series, including Number One Fan, Missed Call, The Family Secret and Imposter.
Benidorm is Murder will air on Channel 5 this year.
