It’s set to be a busy time on Emmerdale, with the show’s 50th anniversary being celebrated next week.

The special episodes will see Aaron Dingle return to the village as he seeks to make amends with his half-sister, Liv, after he wrongly accused her of murdering Ben Tucker.

Ahead of the episodes, actress Isobel Steele spoke with Digital Spy and other media, teasing the plot which sees Aaron rescue Liv from Terry.

When asked if Liv can forgive her half-brother despite his latest hero act, Steele said: “I think it’s a little bit harder for her than simply saving the day. Only because it's something she's really struggled with over this year.

“I know she's been happily married and working on other relationships, but Aaron leaving was a massive hole in her life, she's really had to work to get over that.

“To let him back in would require a lot of forgiveness and understanding most of all, of why he left. I don’t think that she got the answers that she wanted. There's a possibility for it but I don't think it's just saving the day alone.”

Liv, who joined the Dingle family following her marriage to Vinny, evidently still has scars from the previous events with Aaron, and Steele offered advice on how the pair can improve their relationship.

“They need to have a chat and work through what happened,” she said. “[They should] go back to the start where they had a great relationship and a closeness that [couldn't] be broken.

"They just need to realise what they used to be, go back to how they were when they were both younger.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
