Emmerdale spoilers follow.

In an effort to evade any further Dingle drama, Emmerdale's Vinny Dingle and Liv Flaherty will elope next week.

The two characters have decided to tie the knot without their family members knowing, and Bradley Johnson (Vinny) and Isobel Steele (Liv) spoke to Digital Spy and other media about what to expect following their engagement.

Asked why they continue to keep their engagement a secret, Bradley put the blame on Vinny's mother, Mandy (Lisa Riley).

"The Dingles always get involved," he said. "Mandy takes over and there's always a drama. They want to go away, make it special and not get overridden by Mandy and the Dingles."

Isobel added: "People have a lot of opinions about the relationship because of what they've been through together, and Liv's addiction. The Dingles like to voice their opinions and it doesn't help when you're trying to work through something with someone. They think it's the best thing to leave and report back."

Asked whether they would support a secret wedding or prefer a big Dingle wedding, Bradley confessed while the idea seemed a dream come true at first, on reflection he realised it's more romantic to elope.

"When I first read it, I really wanted a big Dingle wedding. I thought if my character ever got married, they should get the Dingle welly out and have a big party! But I think it's really romantic that they're going away and doing it by themselves. Although I would have loved a big Dingle wedding!" he said.

Thankfully, Isobel shared the sentiment: "I would have loved a big Dingle wedding, but sometimes the romance between the characters can get lost if it's a big wedding. There can be 30 cast members, it's hectic, there's probably 10 other stories going on at the same time."

She continued: "It was nice when Robron had a small, private thing and then they had a big wedding afterwards. The dialogue is right with the characters and it's quite special and intimate."

Speaking about their reaction to their characters getting married, Bradley expressed his joy and optimism for the couple's future.

"It's great," he said. "They've broken up about three times now! But I'm really happy because they're committed now and we can explore their relationship more, see what goes on behind closed doors and show a young couple being married and living together."

Isobel added: "There isn't another young couple in the show who are married. The audience love it and the writers like writing it, clearly. We enjoy playing it and it'd be nice to have a bit of happiness. We hope the audience are drawn to the characters as much as they are with the staple Dingle couples.

"We try to make it as friendly and inviting for the audience as possible so they can relate to it and back it."

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, February 24 at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
