Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has opened up about Cain Dingle's decision to hide a letter from Robert Sugden to Aaron.
In an upcoming lockdown episode of the ITV soap, viewers will revisit the heartbreak of Aaron and Robert's split when a letter from prison arrives.
Cain decides to hide the letter from Aaron to avoid bringing up trauma for him, but it isn't long before the letter comes up, potentially opening old wounds.
"He knows Aaron well and he fears that in Cain's words he will 'overthink things and go down a rabbit hole' – which is a quote from the script," he said.
"Cain is just scared his nephew is going to react badly to this letter so he decides for better or for worse to hide it from him."

He added of the dynamic between the pair during lockdown: "I think the dynamic between them is great because they have a lot of similarities. They are both Dingles and I think Cain has got a lot of time and love for Aaron."
During lockdown, Aaron is also determined to get Cain to open up emotionally about the upheaval in his own life.
"It is just not in Cain's DNA to open up to people, but in this episode Aaron carefully constructs a way to try and get him to open up," Jeff explained.
"As the episode progresses we see in fact the pair of them shift from how they are at the beginning to the end of the episode. It is cleverly written."
Aaron and Cain's lockdown episode airs on Wednesday, June 10 at 7pm on ITV. Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV as part of a new strategy to keep the soap on air throughout the pandemic.
