Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has aired Peter Barlow's final episode, but there was one character missing for his emotional farewell.
Chris Gascoyne has bowed out from the role of Peter after six years back on the cobbles and his final scenes aired in the show's Boxing Day edition.
Picking up where the show's Christmas Day cliffhanger left off, Peter was shocked at his wife Carla's decision to buy him a one-way ticket out of Weatherfield.
Peter bitterly accused Carla of giving him his marching orders and stormed out of Number 1, where they'd been spending a happy Christmas with the Barlows.

The rows continued back at the couple's flat, as Carla explained why she felt it was right for Peter to join his friend Mickey on his yacht.
Peter continued to oppose Carla's suggestion, but after taking a walk and spending some time mulling over the idea, he gradually started to come round to her way of thinking.
The popular couple reflected on their tumultuous relationship and realised that, while they'd always love each other, they'd be better off apart.
Peter agreed to go on the trip and Carla insisted it should be a clean break, with no further contact between them.

The next day, Peter headed out of the flat with just a hold-all of belongings to take with him.
His entire family were gathered to say goodbye – with the exception of Simon, who'd headed off to the pub the night before and wasn't contacting anyone.
Simon's mum Leanne Battersby explained: "His phone's switched off. We'll keep trying – and we'll be here when he turns up."
Peter replied: "Thanks, Lea. Couldn't wish for a better mum for him."

After farewell moments with the rest of his family and sharing a final passionate kiss with Carla, an optimistic Peter headed off on a tram to start his new life. But how will Simon really feel when he finds out Peter left without a goodbye?
Chris Gascoyne's decision to bow out from Coronation Street was announced in July and he filmed his final scenes in late October.
Speaking two months ago, Chris praised the decision to tie in Peter's exit with the demise of Stephen Reid. Peter has struggled with his guilt in recent weeks after killing the villain by knocking him over in the road.
Chris said: "It just came together at the right time. I've learned a bit more about Peter than I knew before. The more that I know, the more that I see this side of him, the more I like him. He's got a lot of depth and it has been great to explore that.
"All I will say is I am delighted with my exit storyline. The scripts are superb and I can't wait to see the reaction to how Peter leaves the street."
Coronation Street continues on Wednesday (December 27) at 8pm on ITV1.
