Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has filmed exit scenes for Peter Barlow, with actor Chris Gascoyne spotted filming his character's departure at a tram station.
In filming photos obtained by Digital Spy, Peter is pictured arriving at the station as a tram pulls in, before he steps onto the tram, which appears to be heading towards Piccadilly. He looks thoughtful as he makes his departure, while holding onto his bags.
Peter's final scenes are due to air on Boxing Day.

Peter's tram trip marks Gascoyne's final scenes as Peter for the foreseeable future, after playing the character across several stints since 2000.

It was confirmed in July that Gascoyne would be taking an extended break from the soap, with the door left open for his return in the future.
During his break the actor is expected to take on other roles, beginning with a stint in pantomime at The Alban Arena in St Albans, where the star will play Captain Hook in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan.

The scenes further confirm that Peter won't be heading to prison for killing Stephen Reid by knocking him down with his car, after the police revealed in scenes last week that they wouldn't be taking any further action against Peter over Stephen's death.
Despite apparently being in the clear legally, Peter remains burdened with guilt over killing Stephen, and Gascoyne has already revealed that Peter is now "in deep conflict with himself".
"At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how it happened – he has killed someone," he explained. "It is impossible to imagine what that must feel like. Could you ever rest, could you sleep?"

It remains to be seen what sort of impact Peter's departure will have on his wife Carla, with actress Alison King, who plays her, recently telling Digital Spy and other media that Carla will be damaged by the events surrounding Stephen, but will also come out fighting as usual.
"There will be an influx of all those things," she said. "The good thing is that Carla will have an answer one way or another about what's happened."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
