Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has confirmed on-screen wife Shona Platt's exit storyline.

While actress Julia Goulding is on maternity leave, her character is being written temporarily out of the soap – though Jack (who plays David Platt) assured fans that she will thankfully not be a victim of evil Stephen Reid.

"No, no, she’s not [going to be Stephen’s next victim]. It’s not dramatic at all," he told the Daily Mirror.
