Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd is celebrating getting his own waxwork at Madame Tussauds.

The actor, who has played David Platt on the cobbles since 2000, was honoured with the lifelike statue which will go on display at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

Sharing images of himself beside the figure on Instagram, Jack wrote: "I’m honoured to announce I’ve been made into a waxwork at Madame Tussauds! How mad is that!

"The model is in @mtblackpool as of now. So pleased, thank you to everyone that was involved with the process, I love you forever. You’ve made me so happy."

Jack further opened up to ITV about the experience of seeing himself immortalised in wax, especially when his long-suffering mum Gail isn't even in there!

"Seeing the figure face-to-face was incredibly surreal, it looks so much like me and really captures the essence of David Platt’s character!" Jack said.

"I went to Madame Tussauds in 1997 and loved it, and remember thinking, 'Imagine if I'm ever in it'.

"It's a real honour. It really is. I'm blown away. There's big characters, legends in here, Ken, Deirdre, Jack and Vera – Gail's not even in there."

Jack also revealed that his hair was matched with an Oscar-winning actor.

"When I went down to London so that they could do the skin match they said, 'Oh, okay, so your hair matches Leonardo DiCaprio'," he said.

"I've got DiCaprio's hair and apparently Justin Bieber's eyes. Bet Leonardo and Justin will be over the moon if they knew!"

Meanwhile, Paddy Bever, who play's David's adoptive son Max Turner, has teased "tension" and changing dynamics in the relationship between them.

"All I can say is that you are going to see tension and you are going to see some changes between the relationship," he said after winning the Rising Star award at last week's NTAs.

"The dynamics are going to change," he added. "So yes, that's all I can say."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
