Coronation Street star Julia Goulding (who plays Shona Platt on the cobbles) showed off her baby bump at the British Soap Awards as she revealed that she is expecting her second baby.

Goulding and husband Ben Silver already share son Franklin Wolf, who was born in November 2019.

Speaking to OK! Goulding revealed how the soap has been helping her keep the news a secret until the reveal at the awards ceremony last night (June 11).

"It's been quite hard to keep it secret and they've dug out my maternity clothes from three years ago, so it's all systems go again.

"It's generally up to the director or costume department to sort of try and conceal it a bit. Obviously, I'm not as big, I'm used to being a lot bigger when I had Franklin. So yeah, it's been alright so far, we've managed to keep it to ourselves. I think we've done something right, thank goodness!"

Though Coronation Street missed out on some of the other awards this year, Goulding recently made a suggestion of bringing a Line of Duty star to Weatherfield to stir some additional drama.

In addition to bringing back Kylie Platt, Goulding called for Vicky McClure to join the cast as her onscreen sister.

"She's brilliant in Line of Duty (as Kate Fleming) – we need to get on the phone to her. Although she always plays a detective, and that wouldn't be good for Shona. There's always something to be dug up, especially around the Platt family!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
