Coronation Street star Charlie de Melo has opened up about Imran Habeeb and Toyah Battersby's huge problem in their ongoing plans to become foster parents.

The couple have been hoping to foster children for some time, though recently Toyah (Georgia Taylor) insisted on putting the idea on hold, seeing it as the wrong time to do so as her young nephew Oliver is seriously ill.

However, after getting the go-ahead from her sister Leanne, the couple have finally got the ball rolling and are now meeting with social workers and those who make the decision for them to become foster carers.

However, for Imran, it really doesn't go well at all once the interviewer talks about his family history.

"He's blindsided by questions about his own family," de Melo told Inside Soap.

"If you recall, Imran's parents essentially tried to kidnap his sister Rana and ship her to Pakistan because of her relationship with Kate Connor, and the fostering board bring this up.

Imran's reaction could mean the couple won't be given the chance to become foster parents, which would be heartbreaking for them.
