Coronation Street's Johnny Connor almost had his "chequered past" revealed to wife Jenny tonight when his old pal Scott Emberton dropped by for an unexpected visit.
In the ITV soap's most recent episode (Monday, August 31), Johnny (Richard Hawley) - who scarpered off to France to avoid running into Scott (Tom Roberts) when the latter arrived in Weatherfield several months ago - finally sat down with his former business partner, and the pair got chatting about their shared history.
During the talk, it was revealed that the twosome committed a crime over three decades ago, and Johnny let Scott go down for it.

"Okay, look, I did wonder if you were here because of what happened... If you were after an explanation?" a nervous-looking Johnny began, as Scott replied: "Well, it would be nice, I've waited more than 30 years..."
"When I heard that you'd been arrested, I felt terrible. I should've come forward... Admitted to my part in it. I wanted to, I swear, I was just scared, I suppose. I know that's no excuse," Johnny said.

"You look like a schoolboy waiting to be caned," Scott laughed. "Sorry, I just couldn't resist making you sweat. You always were easy to wind up. Look, I didn't come to track you down. It was a total fluke, us bumping into each other again and as for revenge... What for?"

It seemed as if Scott was just putting on the fact that he'd forgotten about the whole thing though, as he turned around and said: "We were mates. Least I thought we were, I started to doubt it when you didn't get in touch. After all these years, I gotta admit, that hurt."
While the pair didn't get into specifics as to what they'd done all those years ago, viewers got a little bit of an insight when Johnny asked Scott whether he still thinks "about what happened to that security guard."
They didn't learn much, however, as Scott shut down the conversation and urged Johnny to remember that they "were young" at the time.
Later, Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) got home and suggested Scott stay for dinner, much to Johnny's dismay, and probed her husband's friend on how they knew one another.
Scott explained that they used to own a handyman company, but when he "joked" that they used to pinch things from their clients, Johnny shot him a worried look. Will Scott expose the truth about Johnny to Jenny sometime soon? It looks likely.
Coronation Street is currently airing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV, in addition to Coronation Street: Icons specials airing on Wednesdays at 8.30pm on ITV.
