Coronation Street has revealed the fate of Geoff Metcalfe in a new trailer, following his recent hospitalisation.

The soap villain was left fighting for his life last week when his wife Yasmeen (Shelley King) hit him over the head with a bottle and used a piece of broken glass to stab him in the neck.

After ringing the emergency services and confessing to what she had done in tonight's episode (May 4), Yasmeen was shocked to find out that her abusive husband was still alive – but nevertheless, he was in a very bad way.

A fact that was made all too clear when the police warned her that if he was to die, she'd face a murder charge.

Now, in a new trailer, it appears Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) makes it through.

In a look at what's to come on the long-running ITV soap throughout the month of May, the teaser sees Geoff awaken on his hospital bed, as he starts wrestling with his breathing aids and shouting: "She tried to kill me!"

It also shows Yasmeen in custody and later appearing in court, as her granddaughter Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) tells boyfriend Ryan: "This is a nightmare."

Other storylines hinted at include David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) going out and deliberately getting himself into trouble as he continues down a path of self-destruction, having gotten a twisted taste for danger after being mugged.

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
