Coronation Street aired the aftermath of David Platt's mugging tonight (April 1) and, luckily, he managed to escape without being injured.

But that doesn't mean that the story is done and dusted. In fact, David's reaction to what happened hints that things are going to get a lot darker for him going forward.

When he got home, he didn't tell Nick and Gail about the incident, which may not be surprising considering the huge row he had with Gail beforehand.

It's more that David's creepy laugh after he escaped from the thugs hints that he enjoyed the danger.

He was still on a bit of a high when he returned home and said it was the best he'd felt in a long time.

What to Read Next

In times when things have gone wrong for David, he usually turns to alcohol or meaningless hook-ups, but now it seems like his self-destructive behaviour might lead him seek out dangerous situations like this. He was the one who taunted the gang into mugging him last episode, after all.

Broadcast regulator Ofcom has confirmed that it received multiple complaints about the scene, but hasn't decided if it will investigate just yet.

Elsewhere in the April 1 episode, Alya discovered that Geoff had lied about booking the hotel and told Yasmeen. She told her husband that she believes him, but the episode ended with her looking through his laptop while he was upstairs.

Coronation Street is currently airing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
