Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has hinted at a new love interest for Eileen Grimshaw.
The actress appeared on Good Morning Britain with Lorraine on Monday (May 4), where she revealed that the character's unfortunate love life (which has previously included a relationship with serial killer Pat Phelan) may be barrelling towards an upturn.
The comments coincide with the reveal that Benidorm star Tony Maudsley has been cast in the soap as the son of Archie Shuttleworth (played by the late Roy Hudd).
Coincidence? We think not!
Speaking about Eileen's formerly disastrous love life, Sue said: "You can guarantee when one [man] comes in, something's going to go horribly wrong.
"But going forward, who knows? We have Tony Maudsley who is joining us on Corrie, who's playing Archie Shuttleworth's son," she continued.

Maudsley confirmed that he was joining the cast of the soap last month, saying that he was "thrilled to be joining the cast of [his] favourite show".
"I'm chuffed to be staying at my @itv home and heading to Weatherfield and I for one, couldn't be happier," he added.

Sue is celebrating 20 years in the role of Eileen, and recently opened up about sustaining an injury on the Coronation Street set which left her "knocked out cold" while filming a scene back in 2012.
"Judy [Holt]'s character had Alzheimer's. She punched me, misjudged it and I got knocked out cold on the floor," Cleaver said.
"I had to visit the hospital to get checked out – she was mortified. When it went out on screen they used the real sound from the punch on the show."
The scene came about after Eileen started dating Lesley's (Judy Holt) husband Paul Kershaw (Tony Hirst), so we just hope this new potential love interest of Eileen's doesn't end as disastrously as all the rest.
