Coronation Street finally aired the arrival of Gemma Winter's mum Bernie tonight (July 24) and she's already insulted Chesney Brown multiple times, told Gemma that she's behind on rent and wants to 'borrow' the donation money.
Some of you hardcore soap fans may recognise exactly where you've seen actress Jane Hazlegrove, but for the rest of you who can't quite place her thanks to her new look, we've got you covered.
Jane has actually appeared in Casualty, but she wasn't just a one-off character suffering from scurvy or something (although she did do that once), she actually played a very popular character for 10 years.
Even if you never really watched Casualty, you've almost definitely seen Kathleen 'Dixie' Dixon's iconic blonde hair before:

As Dixie, she popped up in Holby City, having played yet another one-off character in that show years before. She's also appeared as one-and-done characters in Doctors and The Bill, the latter of which she did not one, not twice, but three times!

If that's not enough for your soap bingo cards, Jane has actually had a regular role on Corrie as a completely different character! Back in 1985, she played young Sue Clayton from January to August (Jane says Rita actress Barbara Knox actually remembers her!).
According to the Coronation Street Wiki, Sue's first words uttered on screen were: "'Err Terry, d'ya know owt about Hi-fi?"
Do you reckon someone will ask Bernie if she knows owt about Bluetooth speaker at some point, just for a really obscure reference?
