Casualty spoilers follow for this Saturday's episode (27 June), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn't yet aired on TV. This article contains storyline details that some viewers may prefer to avoid, and discussion of topics including alcoholism.
Casualty airs a devastating twist involving Dylan Keogh tonight, as his big night takes a distressing turn. Dylan was recently blindsided to discover that his son, Matty Linlaker, has been having a secret fling with his best friend Stevie Nash. After learning about how Matty covered for Stevie's medical mistake, he reported Stevie for sexual coercion.
Stevie was investigated for her actions, but she eventually decided to fight for her career – and in tonight's episode, Flynn reveals to everyone that she will face no consequences aside from supervision at work and a temporary ban from resus.

Dylan is furious about the outcome, while Stevie is similarly angry about Dylan making a complaint, so she decides not to attend his big speech at a medical institute that evening.
During their shift, Dylan reaches out to Matty, but his son is also frustrated about recent events and annoyed that his dad went behind his back to report Stevie.

The pair later successfully save a patient together, but when Dylan asks Matty to come to his speech, Matty turns him down and makes it clear that nothing has changed in their fractured relationship.
When Stevie and Matty catch up later, she reminds him that Dylan was only ever acting in his best interest and put his career at risk to save him. Stevie's words about how he'll only get one Dylan chime with Matty, and give him second thoughts.
Dylan arrives at the black tie event and delivers a moving keynote speech about how he can only be a great doctor because he's part of a great team – and Matty arrives in time to hear his words.

The speech goes down a storm at the event and Matty is eager to surprise his dad, who hasn't noticed he is there. But what Matty sees is Dylan handing out champagne flutes then downing a couple himself – and he rushes out the room as his dad sadly relapses.
What will Matty do about what he's seen, and will Dylan get help with his alcoholism before things escalate?
There is no episode of Casualty on TV next week (4 July), so there's a bit longer to wait to find out what's next for Dylan in this harrowing story.
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
