The Oscars will be broadcast live on ITV for the second year running, and this year is included an exciting first for the channel.

For the first time, the red carpet will be broadcast live across both ITV1 and streaming service ITVX. Like the ceremony itself, the coverage of the red carpet will be completely free-to-air in the UK.

Jonathan Ross is returning to host ITV's coverage of the Oscars with live commentary with special celebrity guests and film experts to be announced, as well as Ross King broadcasting live chat with stars on the red carpet.

Before the big night, this year's nominations announcement will be broadcast live on ITVX at 1.10pm tomorrow (January 23), hosted by ITV News broadcaster Lucrezia Millarini with Arts Editor Nina Nannar.

There will also be Oscars-themed programming across ITV and ITVX on the likes of Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women and ITV News.

Alongside behind-the-scenes footage, ITVX will also have an exclusive Oscars 24/7 Channel featuring winners and nominated movies from previous years, including Gone Girl, LA Confidential, Drive and The Help.

Last year's Oscars ceremony reached a combined 5.2 million viewers across ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Back in September 2023, ITV signed a multi-year deal with Disney Entertainment to broadcast the Oscars in the UK, following Sky Cinema foregoing the rights after 20 years of coverage.

This year's Oscars nominations are widely expected to heavily feature the likes of Conclave, The Brutalist, Wicked, A Complete Unknown and Emilia Pérez, among others.

The 97th Academy Awards take place on Sunday, March 2 in the US. It will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
