Students have been banned from singing songs from Netflix hit KPop Demon Hunters at Lilliput Church of England Infant School in Poole, Dorset.
According to BBC News, parents received an email from the school last Friday (14 November), explaining that some members of the community were "deeply uncomfortable" with the film's references to demons, as they are associated "with spiritual forces opposed to God and goodness".
The school added that the songs were not in keeping with the "Christian ethos" and asked parents to tell their children "not to sing these songs at school out of respect for those who find the themes at odds with their faith".
As a result of the ban, parents have spoken out, with one telling BBC News: "I thought it was ridiculous. My daughter is very into K-pop and her and all of her little friends love it."
"It's just a harmless, a nice little thing for them to do to get their confidence up," he continued, noting that some children had performed the songs in after-school clubs.

Expanding on the decision, acting headteacher Lloyd Allington said: "While we fully respect your right to make choices about the content your child engages with at home, we also want to be mindful of the diversity of beliefs within our school community.
"For some Christians, references to demons can feel deeply uncomfortable because they associate them with spiritual forces opposed to God and goodness. We are not asking parents to tell their children that there is anything wrong with enjoying the film or its songs if it aligns with your own views and beliefs.

"Our role will simply be to help children understand that some of their peers may hold different views and to explore how we can respect and support those peers in upholding their faith."
Released in June 2025, KPop Demon Hunters is a musical fantasy film which follows the members of Huntr/x, a K-pop girl group. What their fans don't realise, however, is that superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey are leading double lives as demon hunters.
A huge win for Netflix, KPop Demon Hunters became the streamer's most-watched film of all time in August, as well as a cultural phenomenon around the world. A sequel has been confirmed, with Netflix and Sony hoping for a 2029 release (via Deadline).
KPop Demon Hunters is currently available to stream on Netflix.
