Netflix has confirmed the release date for The Twits, promising a "wild ride" for fans.
The animated adventure, based on Roald Dahl's iconic characters Jim and Credenza Twit, will hit the streaming service worldwide on 17 October, marking the first time Dahl's characters from the 1980 novel have been adapted for the screen.
Directed by Ralph Breaks the Internet's Phil Johnston, The Twits features an all-star voice cast led by Academy Award winner Natalie Portman and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke.
Taskmaster and Benidorm star Johnny Vegas takes on the role of Mr Twit, with The Good Wife's Margo Martindale starring as Mrs Twit.
The Twits tells the story of Mr and Mrs Twit, the "meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world", who own a "dangerous" amusement park named Twitlandia.

What to Read Next
The film's synopsis reads: "When the Twits rise to power in their town, two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps, are forced to become as tricky as the Twits in order to save the city.
"A hysterically funny, wild ride of a film (chock-full of the Twits’ beloved tricks – from the Wormy Spaghetti to the Dreaded Shrinks), The Twits is also a story for our times, about the never-ending battle between cruelty and empathy."

The film's soundtrack includes three original songs written by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, who wrote them especially for the film.
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has also co-written the end title song 'Open the Door', which she performs with Byrne.
Williams said in a statement: "Being a part of this movie is like one pinch-me moment after another. My favorite Roald Dahl book growing up was The Twits.
"I’m drawn to learning about twisted characters like Mr and Mrs Twit and The Wormwoods from Matilda. The way Phil and Daisy adapted the original story was really exciting to me, as was the animation style."
The Twits is released on Netflix Friday, 17 October.
