Final Destination: Bloodlines has landed a "sensational" opening at the US box office, setting another record.
The sixth instalment of the horror franchise hit US cinemas this Friday, raking in $51 million during its opening weekend, Variety reports.
The impressive debut landed Bloodlines at the top of the box office, dethroning Marvel's Thunderbolts*.
The sequel also became the biggest debut for the franchise, surpassing original movie The Final Destination which earned $27 million during its opening in 2009.
This record comes after Bloodlines scored a highly commendable 93% rating from 124 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated movie in the series. It's followed by 2011's Final Destination 5, which has a significantly lower score of 63%.

Final Destination: Bloodlines follows college student Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) as she tries to break a long-running cycle of deaths that began with her grandmother Iris in 1968.
Digital Spy awarded the movie a solid 4 stars in its review, writing: "Final Destination: Bloodlines crucially has the spirit of the series and its own dark heart in the right place. It's evident with the deaths as well as its treatment of the late, great Tony Todd, whose beautifully-judged final appearance in the series will provoke tears.
"Ultimately for long-running fans or brand-new ones, Final Destination: Bloodlines proves there's plenty of life left in this series."
