Final Destination producer Craig Perry has shared why one of the franchise's biggest mysteries will never be explained.
The sixth instalment of the horror series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, hit cinemas this week, bringing with it a fresh batch of eerie premonitions.
However, if fans thought the long-awaited sequel would provide answers about why the visions happen, they will be in for a disappointing watch.
In fact, according to Perry, the reasons behind the horrific psychic glimpses will remain a mystery for all future instalments in the series – meaning we will never learn why they occur.
"If we answer how they happen, that means that you as an audience member may never have it. You might not have that moment," Perry told CinemaBlend.

"I would much rather have it be a mystery so that you never know whether you are capable or whether it may happen to you."
The producer highlighted the importance of audience immersion in the franchise, which is achieved by creating horror from everyday accidents. The aim is to leave fans wondering if they might find themselves in the protagonists' shoes.
Using Star Wars as a reference, Perry explained: "It's sort of like in midi-chlorians in Star Wars. 'Oh, I can't be a Jedi now.' Why would you not want to be a Jedi?

"So we want everyone to leave the theater thinking, 'What if I have a premonition tomorrow and I'm perfectly capable of it?' Because you never know when and you never know where."
Though there won't be an official explanation, Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein shared their own theories about the origins of the premonitions.
"Our thoughts is that it might be Death giving them the premonition because, you know, he gets bored, wants to give his little play things a chance, and then comes back for them later – like a cat playing with its toy," said Stein.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is out now in cinemas.
