New Netflix movie Bad Influence has quickly topped the streamer's chart, despite receiving mostly negative audience reviews.
Set in Valencia, the Spanish romantic drama from first-time feature director Chloé Wallace tells the forbidden love story between rich teen Reese (Eléa Rochera) and Eros (Alberto Olmo), the bodyguard with a troubled past who's been hired to protect her.
The cast is rounded out by Money Heist star Enrique Arce as Reese's father Bruce and Elite's Mirela Balić as Reese's best friend Peyton.
Co-written by Wallace and Diana Muro, Bad Influence is based on a story by Teensspirit that went viral on Wattpad.
The movie had a theatrical release in Spain earlier this year before its Netflix release. On the streamer, it has jumped to number one in the most-watched movies in several countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Spain.

In the UK, the film is stable at number five of the top 10 movies on Netflix, while in the US it's gone down to number four after debuting at number three.
Despite faring well with Netflix subscribers, Bad Influence has amassed negative audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Judging by viewers' thoughts, it seems the only thing worse than Eros's influence on Reese is the movie itself, branded "so bad it hurts" by one person.
"I felt the two main characters didn’t have chemistry at all, and their interactions were lacklustre at most," reads another viewer's review.

Among critics, the film isn't doing that much better with Decider's 'Stream It or Skip It' column ruling the movie doesn't warrant more than a casual watch.
"Bad Influence has hotness and hunkiness going for it. What it doesn't have is much that kept us interested, beyond the sense of will-they-or-won't-they excitement at its core," the review noted. "This is a STREAM IT for folding laundry/scrolling phones to."
Bad Influence is streaming on Netflix.
