Gerard Butler's disaster movie Geostorm has become a Netflix hit, following an underwhelming performance at the box office.
Directed by Dean Devlin, the film stars Butler as a satellite designer who tries to save the world from a storm of epic proportions caused by malfunctioning climate-controlling satellites.
Other cast members include Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia.
Geostorm didn’t receive much praise from fans or critics following its release in 2017, earning just $13.3 million in its opening weekend against a $120 million-plus production budget.
It didn’t fare too well in reviews either, and it's currently on a brutal Rotten Tomatoes score of just 18% from critic reviews.

However, it seems the film is getting a new lease of life since being added to Netflix, landing in fourth place on the streamer’s Top 10 global movies over the past week.
Geostorm is currently available to stream on both Netflix US and Netflix UK, though UK fans will have to act quickly if they haven't watched it yet, as it's being removed from the streamer on April 14.
In other news, Butler's action sequel Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is set to arrive on Prime Video on April 25, after opening at the top of the US box office in January.

The sequel brings back Detective 'Big Nick' O'Brien (Butler) and master thief Donnie Wilson (O'Shea Jackson Jr) as they team up to plot a massive heist at the world's largest diamond exchange.
The film has received mostly positive reviews from critics, earning it a fresh score of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes from 88 reviews.
"Pantera trades the original Den of Thieves' self-seriousness for a more winking lightheartedness that doesn't entirely smooth over its familiarity but ought to satisfy those hankering for absolute Dad Cinema," the site's critical consensus reads.
Geostorm is available to stream now on Netflix.
