Netflix's new action thriller Counterattack has surpassed Venom 3 as the most-watched movie on the streaming platform this week.
The Mexican film, which arrived on Netflix at the end of February, follows Captain Guerrero (Luis Alberti) and his team of elite soldiers as they face an ambush by a criminal group after they rescue two hostages.
While Venom: The Last Dance is the most-watched English-language movie on Netflix this week with 12.8 million views, Counterattack is the most-watched movie worldwide, accumulating an impressive 18.6 million views.

The official synopsis for Counterattack – which was previously known as Counterstrike – reads: "When a Mexican Army officer saves two hostages, he and his team of special agents find a graveside full of cartel victims – making their squad the target of a drug cartel leader who’ll stop at nothing to silence them."
Venom: The Last Dance, which released in cinemas in October and arrived on Netflix in select countries on February 25, follows journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote as they go on the run after being hunted by authorities from both the human and alien world.

Ahead of its release in cinemas, Hardy revealed that while Venom 3 is the final Venom movie, it might not be the final time he plays the character.

"I've loved every moment of Eddie and Venom and I was really fond of them. I'd play them any time because there's a special place that exists within me to want to operate those two characters wherever you put them in whatever capacity," he said.
"I feel like a sense of obligation and responsibility and duty of care to those two that will never end. I'll always be with them."
Hardy is next set to star in Guy Ritchie's new Paramount+ series MobLand alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
The show follows a family of elite London fixers and focuses on the business they run and their complex relationships.
Venom: The Last Dance and Counterattack are both available to stream on Netflix.
