In an unexpected treat, we've been given the hilarious first teaser for Shrek 5 which confirms Zendaya is going to Far Far Away next Christmas.

Zendaya is joining the long-awaited new movie as Shrek and Fiona's daughter Felicia, who is now all grown up from the last time we saw the family in Halloween TV special Scared Shrekless.

She joins the returning Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy in Shrek 5, which is coming to cinemas next Christmas.

It's currently set for release in cinemas on December 23, 2026. You can check out the 30-second teaser for the movie above.

Following the casting, the official X account for Shrek resurfaced a 2017 post from Zendaya where she joked: "I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood."

We don't yet know what Shrek 5 will be about, but we do know that the new movie is being directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, alongside Brad Ableson.

Dohrn wrote Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third, as well as being head of story on Shrek Forever After and voicing Rumpelstiltskin, while Vernon directed Shrek 2 and also voices the Gingerbread Man in the series.

Shrek 5 was officially announced in July 2024, following the end of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish teasing a fifth movie with Puss and his friends Kitty Softpaws and Perrito travelling to Far Far Away.

It was originally scheduled to land in cinemas in July 2026 before being pushed back to its current December release.

Next year is a big one for Zendaya fans as she'll also be appearing alongside Tom Holland in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and Spider-Man 4.

Shrek 5 is released in cinemas on December 23, 2026.
