Leonardo DiCaprio's real-life serial killer movie is back on track, more than ten years after it was first announced.

The adaptation, based on Erik Larson's non-fiction book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness At The Fair That Changed America, was originally announced in 2010 with DiCaprio reportedly set to star in and produce the movie.

The long-awaited project later added director Martin Scorsese to the team in 2015. Now, Deadline reports that 20th Century Studios is on board the project, with DiCaprio and Scorsese still attached.

Holmes used the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 to slaughter his victims in the hotel. The structure contained a gas chamber, dissection table and a crematorium, and was nicknamed his 'Murder Castle'.

The actor will also produce alongside his partner Jennifer Davisson, for their production company Appian Way. Meanwhile, Scorsese will be serving as both director and producer, with Stacey Sher and Rick Yorn also producing.

DiCaprio landed the rights to the book back in 2010, and has been developing the project for years, along with Scorsese.

The story was given a TV adaptation from Hulu in 2022, with Keanu Reeves set to star. However, the eight-episode series, which was schedule for 2024 release, ultimately did not come to fruition.
