9 to 5's Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin once again proved that they're the feminist heroes we need while reuniting at the Emmy Awards.

While presenting an award at Sunday's gala, the ladies couldn't help but notice the similarities between the sexist boss played by Dabney Coleman in their beloved movie, and the current occupant of the White House.

"Back in 1980, in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot," Jane Fonda said to a huge applause.

To an even more rapturous response, Lily Tomlin added: "And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot."

Dolly Parton refrained from directly zinging Donald Trump, aside from a brief joke about the president reminding her of Coleman's blustering, sexist executive Franklin Hart, Jr. in 9 to 5.

Of course, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have both been outspoken critics of Trump, who has a long history of making sexist remarks even before he ascended to high office.

Sunday's Emmy gala was full of Trump jokes, both from winners like Alec Baldwin and from host Stephen Colbert — who brought out Trump's actual former press secretary Sean Spicer in his Emmys monologue.

"What a year it has been for television, the industry is booming, there are over 450 original scripted shows made this year," he told the star-studded audience.

"Of course, there's no way anyone could actually watch that much TV, other than the president, who seems to have a lot of time for that sort of thing. Hello sir, thank you for joining us! Looking forward to the tweets!"

Stephen Colbert hosted the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater, airing live on CBS in the US.
