Big Mistakes, the brand-new comedy from Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy (who is the star, showrunner, and executive producer), is now streaming on Netflix – and it looks like one that fans will not want to miss out on.

The eight-part series has been described by the streaming platform as "a wildly dysfunctional" and "hilariously chaotic ride", with the show centring on two "incapable" siblings who are blackmailed into a world of crime.

Joining Levy in the leading roles for Big Mistakes, making up the central family, are Taylor Ortega (who you may recognise from Netflix's breakout comedy-drama The Four Seasons), as well as Laurie Metcalf (Big Bang Theory, Hacks).

When the show was first announced, Levy said in a statement: "I'm so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix... I'm thrilled with the team we're building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it's been my life's mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf 'mother.' Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone."

Jack Innanen (Adults), Boran Kuzum (Thank You, Next), Abby Quinn (Better Call Saul) and Elizabeth Perkins (The Housemaid) also form part of the remaining ensemble cast.

Big Mistakes has won some praise among critics, with Telegraph awarding it five stars and branding the show "a killingly funny comedy and taut crime drama".

Meanwhile The Guardian notes that "the cast are all brilliant", concluding that "Big Mistakes is far from a major error, but it isn't quite a triumph either". Time branded it a "warm family comedy, contorted to fit TV's crime obsession".

Variety praised Big Mistakes' "perfect cast", but said the show was "lacking" elsewhere.

"More than a high-stakes thriller (though there are plenty of those elements here), the show is a highly chaotic depiction of family, ambition and the courage to step outside the norm. Despite its stellar cast, the cumbersome plot dulls the comedic beats that would otherwise be razor-sharp," the publication said.

Dan Levy is perhaps best known for the Emmy-winning sitcom Schitt's Creek, which he co-created and co-wrote with his father Eugene Levy. The comedy series became a breakout hit and remains beloved among fans.

Big Mistakes, co-created with Rachel Sennott, marks Levy's return to Netflix, following the 2023 film Good Grief, which he also wrote and starred in. Digital Spy's three-star review at the time called it "an affecting showcase for Daniel Levy's talent".

So if you're a Dan Levy fan, you've probably found your weekend binge-watch.
