Apple TV+ series Hijack, which stars Idris Elba in the lead role, has revealed a first-look trailer and the season two release schedule.

The first series follows expert negotiator Sam Nelson (Elba) on a seven-hour flight from Dubai to London, where a group of armed hijackers seize control of the plane. Nelson endeavours to diffuse the situation in the skies, while authorities on the ground attempt to understand the reasons why the unfolding terror is happening.

The second season, which has added Mr Bates vs The Post Office's Toby Jones to its cast, is set to premiere on 14 January, 2026, on Apple TV+. Subsequent instalments in the eight-episode series will follow weekly until 4 March.

A synopsis teases: "In the thrilling second season of Hijack, a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while above-ground authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives.

"Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster."
