Hijack, the "irresistible" mystery thriller starring Idris Elba, has landed a new streaming home in the UK. The show follows Elba in the lead role as Sam Nelson, a talented business negotiator who is forced to use his corporate skills to save those on board a flight from Dubai to London after the plane is hijacked.

Released in 2023 on Apple TV, Hijack was recently added to Prime Video. As part of a limited time offer, the first episode of the first season is available to view on Prime Video while the rest of the series is available on Apple TV.

The synopsis for season one reads: "Expert negotiator Sam Nelson is in for the ride of his life-and so is everyone on board with him-after a group of hijackers take control. Sam will try every move in his playbook to take them down...as the stakes grow higher by the second."

The first season of Hijack was popular among critics and currently has a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes from 69 reviews, with the San Jose Mercury News saying: "It’s a shot of pure adrenaline."

"A lightweight but irresistible new thriller," wrote The Daily Telegraph, while the Globe and Mail noted: "In a world where TV series like to get lost in backstories or languish in monologues, Hijack trims the fat."

The Hollywood Reporter said this of the show: "Despite ample opportunities to either venerate heroism or philosophize about the darkness at the heart of man, it tends toward neither sentimentality nor cynicism. It's here mostly to deliver on fun -- and that it serves up in spades."

"An instantly enthralling aeroplane-set thriller which deploys its real-time format to ratchet up the tension to the max, while providing Idris Elba with one of his most satisfying roles so far," wrote Empire Magazine.
