Slow Horses star Jack Lowden is set to star in an upcoming murder mystery drama series for Apple TV+.

The streamer has announced a new "gruesome" series titled Berlin Noir, which will see Lowden as a detective in 1920s Germany.

"Germany, 1928. A newly-promoted detective. A string of gruesome murders. Welcome to Berlin Noir," the streamer teased on social media.

"Emmy and BAFTA Award nominee Jack Lowden will star in this upcoming adaptation of Philip Kerr's bestselling crime novels," the Instagram post also reads, with Apple TV+ not specifying a release date just yet.

Lowden has been busy with several projects lately. As well as Slow Horses and thriller movie Tornado, he will also star in the hotly-anticipated Netflix adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

The actor is set to play Fitzwilliam Darcy aka Mr Darcy, a romantic, flawed hero who piques the interest of protagonist Elizabeth Bennet.

In the upcoming six-parter, The Crown star Emma Corrin is set to portray Elizabeth, while Olivia Colman will star as the Bennet matriarch, Mrs Bennet.

Weighing in on taking on the role of Darcy, previously played by the likes of Colin Firth and Succession star Matthew MacFadyen, Lowden joked about breaking ground as the first "ginger" Darcy.

"I quite like the idea of being a ginger Darcy," he told the BBC.

"I think that is really breaking down barriers – one of the great last barriers to be broken down."
