The Handmaid’s Tale is back for a sixth and final series, with the newly released trailer promising a rebellion against Gilead.
The trailer shows June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) leading an army of Handmaids in a battle to bring down the oppressive regime, while Serena Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) tries to reform the Gilead state as the rebellion rises.
Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and Moira (Samira Wiley) opt to join the resistance, while Commander Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) are faced with the consequences of their actions.

The logline reads: “This final chapter of June’s journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom.”
The new series – which drops its first three episodes on April 8 – also sees the return of Madeline Brewer as Janine and Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence in an explosive finale run.

The series also marks the departure of showrunner Bruce Miller, who has moved on to developing The Handmaid's Tale sequel series, The Testaments, instead. The role will be passed to Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang, who’ve previously worked on the drama as writers and executive producers.

Last September, Miller confirmed the sixth season would indeed be the show’s last, saying: "It has been a true honour to tell the story of Margaret Atwood's groundbreaking novel and the chillingly relevant world, and we are thrilled to bring viewers a sixth and final season of The Handmaid's Tale.
"We are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell this story, which unfortunately has remained as relevant as ever throughout its run, and are in awe of our incredible fans for their unwavering support, and without whom we never would have gotten to this point."
The Handmaid's Tale series 1-5 streams on Hulu in the US and both Channel 4 and Prime Video in the UK. Series 6 will arrive on April 8.
