Severance season two has set a huge new record for the Apple TV+ series.
The psychological thriller is set at the fictional Lumon Industries, where employees have had their memories of work and their personal lives separated through a surgical procedure known as severance.
Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team of employees who have undergone the procedure, but when a mysterious colleague appears at Lumon, he begins to question his job.
After season one ended on a huge cliffhanger which saw Lumon's terrible scheme revealed, fans were eagerly anticipating the second season which arrived on Apple TV+ on January 17.

After arriving on the streamer, Severance has now surpassed Ted Lasso as Apple TV+ most-watched season launch.

Deadline reports that the show has become the service's top series in history based on the number of unique viewers from January 17 through to February 17.
Severance's second season has also increased new subscribers by 126% between January 1 to 19 versus December 1 to 19, 2024.
The streamer told the publication that Severance has already amassed more viewers than any other Apple TV+ series and is the number one most-watched series globally.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, told Deadline: "We have long admired [executive producer Ben Stiller's] extraordinary gift for original and immersive storytelling, and with he and [director Dan Erickson] at the helm, Severance has proven to be an extraordinary success and a cultural phenomenon.
"The series has become an obsession for audiences all over the world, and we can’t wait for people to continue to experience all the masterful twists and turns as the rest of the season unfolds."
Scott returned to unpack more of Lumon's mystery in season two alongside Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette.
There have also been several new faces around the water cooler, including Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and John Noble.
