Severance has finally released a trailer for season two and while it gives fans a sneak peek at what the employees of Lumon will get up to next, it also delivers some disappointing news.

The hit series will be returning to Apple TV+, one of the top streaming services, but not as soon as fans had hoped.

With the release date confirmed in the trailer, season two is now set to arrive on January 17, 2025.

Sharing their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), fans made it clear they were disappointed to hear they'd have to wait until next year to find out the resolution of the season one cliffhanger.

"Give it to me now," one fan wrote, while another added: "the wait till 2025 is cruel and unusual punishment".

"Releasing in 2025 should be illegal," another Severance fan joked, with a fourth agreeing: "That's too long a wait!"

However, most were thrilled to hear the show was coming back, even if they did have to wait.

"Maybe one of the greatest tv shows of all times," one X user commented.

However, the new trailer did at least give viewers something to look forward to as fans caught their first glimpse of Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie in her new role.

It’s unclear who Christie's new character is, but she appears to be another addition to the eerie halls of Lumon.

Her brief appearance in the trailer sees her offer up an ominous warning as she says: "You should have left."

Season two will see Christie join returning cast members Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro and Christopher Walken.

Arrested Development star Alia Shawkat is also a new addition to the cast for season two.

Severance season 1 is streaming now on Apple TV+.
