Fate: The Winx Saga spoilers follow.

The fight to save Alfea has been won... but for how long and at what cost? Those seem to be the biggest questions looming over the finale of Fate: The Winx Saga.

There's no doubt about it, things are never going to be the same, and there's another dark force at play, even though we're not sure yet what it is.

But will we find out what's going on? Apparently not, because Netflix decided to cancel Fate: The Winx Saga on November 1, 2022, which means fans will never see the proper ending they deserve.

Here's everything you need to know about what could happen if the fans petition hard enough and change Netflix's mind.

Fate: The Winx Saga season 3 potential release date: Will the show return?

We originally suspected that new episodes could arrive in late 2023 or early 2024, but unless a fan petition miraculously saves the day, it looks like there won't be any new episodes at all now following Netflix's surprise cancellation.

If the show had been renewed, then we would have expected to see the following fairies return, including:

• Abigail Cowen (Bloom)
• Hannah van der Westhuysen (Stella)
• Precious Mustapha (Aisha)
• Eliot Salt (Terra)
• Elisha Applebaum (Musa)
• Paulina Chávez (Flora)

Then there's the specialists who have been fighting the good fight alongside them.

    • Robert James-Collier (Saul Silva)
    • Danny Griffin (Sky)
    • Freddie Thorp (Riven)
    • Leah Minto (Kat)

Back when season three was still on the cards, it looked like Alfea was going to line up a new headmaster/mistress following the pretty brutal deaths of the last two.

"That’s going to the mystery of season three," showrunner Brian Young told TVLine before learning of the cancellation. "That will be a fun piece of casting that we’ll get to have. Silva’s already still there, but he’s a specialist, and we probably need a fairy for our fairy school. That’ll be a question mark for us moving forward."

Bear in mind that the following can only happen if the season three cancellation is reversed, and that seems extremely unlikely. But if you believe in magic, then maybe everything that follows could somehow come true still after all, perhaps on a different network or streaming platform...

So the fairies of the Winx Suite are down without their leader, Bloom, and all dealing with their own things in the aftermath of the battle against the blood witches.

Bloom stepped over into the Realm of Darkness in order to close the portal opened by Sebastian. She hopes by doing so she can close the Dragon Flame power on the other side, but would have to lock herself over there in the process.

But that could also provide her answers to her mother and familial heritage, something she was desperately craving.

While Terra is thriving in her brand new relationship with specialist Kat, her cousin Flora is not doing too well. Having almost given her life in the battle, she is clearly badly scarred – mentally and physically. She may need some time to come to terms with what happened.

Speaking to Express, actress Chavez explained: "What I'm thinking is that Flora is very much a people person and she loves to help out in every way that she can. And I think in this next season, we're going to see her needing help and asking for help and getting vulnerable.

"I feel like she is going to hide it for a while and it's going to slowly build up as she bottles it in so I think we're going to see some of that."

Stella is also someone grieving, following the shock death of her frenemy Beatrix. While they had their fallouts, Beatrix's sacrifice to save the Otherworld was her first major selfless act, and she died because of it.

Aisha's relationship with Grey was left a mystery at the end, after he tracked her down in a field outside of the school after he was exiled for his work with the Blood Witches. Whether she'll forgive him is another story, but first loves die hard.

Finally, there's Musa, who doesn't want to have her powers as an empath. Instead, she's getting closer to Riven, as he teaches her the ways of being a specialist.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, actress Elisha explained: "I think he's almost like the tough love that she needs. I know the Winx suite can be, but I think it's just finding someone outside of that to be, 'You know what, actually your friends are right, and you do need to snap into [it] and become your own'."

Short of conducting a time spell, something tells us we're not going to see any new footage for a while yet. And that's especially true now that Fate: The Winx Saga has been cancelled. But if the show's fortunes do reverse, we'll be the first to let you know about possible new footage.

Fate: The Winx Saga is available to stream now on Netflix.
