Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman broke her typically deadpan character during a bonkers task in the BBC series. During the most recent episode of the competition, which saw the Faithfuls finally catch their first Traitor and banish Jonathan Ross from the castle, Claudia could not keep a straight face thanks to Alan Carr.

The episode saw the celebrity contestants cross a bridge several metres above the ground for a chance to secure a shield to keep them safe from murder and boost the prize fund.

Claudia, who usually amps up the tension and atmosphere of the nerve-shredding tasks, was left bent over in hysterics as Traitor Alan took part in the challenge.

While being guided across the bridge by Kate Garraway, Alan couldn't help but scream for the whole journey, and Claudia couldn't help but laugh along.

Some viewers branded it one of the funniest moments of the series so far, with one user posting on X: "Claudia having the time of her life watching Alan was incredible."

Another said: "Claudia trying to keep it together while Alan Carr screeches on the wobbly bridge 😂."

Sharing a picture of Alan during the task, a third wrote: "They've all been great, but wow this would never have been anywhere near as good without Alan Carr. He does all the Traitors' dirty work and then entertains everyone all day long. Amazing."

Many said Alan was the "star of the show", while one said he had been a "revelation" on the series.

It comes after Jonathan revealed how he attempted to draw attention away from Alan and third Traitor Cat Burns before he was caught by the Faithfuls.

"I knew I was going to go that day, and I knew if I hadn't said their names [to the Faithfuls], this is bad for them," he told Ed Gamble on Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked.

"And so I said their names, but I didn't use any persuasion. I didn't give any good reason, I just said, 'Well, who are the people... Maybe we should look at the people we haven't been looking at, like Cat and Alan. You know, the quieter voices'.

"Joe [Marler] went, 'Interesting'. And I was pretty sure, I knew almost without doubt Joe was still 100% on me, Celia [Imrie] was still 100% on me, so I knew whatever I said was not going to steer them towards, unless they had second-guessed me and thought, 'Oh, he's saying Traitors' names', so that's very unlikely."

Jonathan added: "I wanted to make sure before I went that I'd said their names to a couple of people, and I did, I think that was the only day I said their names. I dropped it in a few times but very lightly."

The Celebrity Traitors is next on BBC One on Thursday, 30 October, at 9pm.
