Love Island has released the first trailer for series 12, with host Maya Jama promising "more twists than ever".

This series marks a decade since the dating show returned to ITV, becoming a pop culture icon and launching the romances (and careers) of many now-established TV stars.

In the trailer, host Maya leads a meeting at Love Island HQ, as her team try to come up with formats for the new series.

She dismisses them one-by-one before saying: "No! This year I want more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups. I want more… twists. I want more twists than ever."

The new trailer doesn’t yet confirm an air date or any new contestants set to head into the villa, but previous seasons tended to kick off in June, meaning viewers shouldn’t have too long to wait.

ITV also recently announced a one-off Love Island special to celebrate the show’s ten year anniversary.

Although an early version of the show ran for two series in 2005 and 2006, it was rebooted in 2015 and became a global hit, sparking 22 franchises of the dating show worldwide.

Love Island: A Decade of Love is set to bring back some of the show’s best-known Islanders to look back on their summer of love.
