In news that is not-at-all catastrophic, Rob Delaney has confirmed that season four of Channel 4's Catastrophe is very much on the horizon.

The comedian and writer announced the news to fans on Twitter earlier today (July 23), revealing that the lovably dark sitcom is now officially "in the can".

"Series 4 of Catastrophe is "in the can" as they say. It's pretty good," Delaney wrote, before adding that he and co-creator Sharon Horgan still have some work to do.

"Now we'll edit it, add some music & ground-breaking CGI & then (at a date I don't yet know) you'll be able to watch it with your cousin Brad. I hope this news makes some people happy."

Yes. Yes it does, Rob.

Earlier this year, Horgan teased where Catastrophe's latest outing will place Sharon and Rob – which is in a somewhat sexless place, apparently.

Asked whether anyone in long-term relationships actually has regular sex, Sharon said that the progression of "partnership-friendship things" will be "a big part" of season four.

"I've definitely had some friends in couples who really go at it. But generally, long-term relationships seem to form into kind of partnership-friendship things," she said.

"You don't want to admit to yourself that you don't have an active sexual relationship. People keep that under wraps."

Apart from Sharon and Rob, that is.
